This is the oldest and most beautiful of seven bridges that span the Danube between Buda and Pest. Designed by Englishman William Tierney Clark and was finished by the unrelated Scots engineer Adam Clark, and was opened in 1849. This was the first permanent link between Buda and Pest thus giving a tremendous boost to the country's economic growth and unification.
