The town of Gyula is called the "city of spas" and beside Hajduszoboszlo it was voted the best bath among the Hungarians.

The main attraction of the town is the Castle Bath (in Hungarian ) taking pride in 1 000 000 guests per year. The heart of the town of Gyula is formed by the ancient monument group of the mediaeval Castle.

The Castle Spa was built on a 8,5-hectare park of the former Almássy castle and has been declared a nature conservation area.

The 72 C water of the Castle Bath, coming from as deep as 2004 m, is a medicinal water, the bath became a spa in 1971 and the spa became a health-resort in 1985. After the reconstruction in 2002, the Castle Bath has emerged as the newest, most modern bath and spa of European standard in the Southern Great Plain region, where pleasure pools, children's water paradise, wave pools and giant or kamikaze slides provide all age-groups with perfect amusement.
